The Tale of William McDonald
An Historical Mystery
Even though the title of the book, Murder in the Bush, told me what would happen, I kept hoping this would not be the case. The author did a wonderful job of making the main character, William, very personable and full of life. I kept rooting for him, hoping he would somehow not end up being murdered. I find myself wondering what he would have made of himself had he not come to a tragic end at the hands of a madman; I also wonder about the other people who had the same demise. This story captured the level of desperation the people endured before deciding to leave their home country of Scotland for the opportunity of freedom and fortune in Australia.
